Week 24 Summary (September 26, 1938 - October 2, 1938)
Week Twenty-Four of the 1938 BBW Replay is in the books, and the regular season is now complete. While the pennant winner in the AL has been known for several weeks now, the winner of the NL came down to the last game of the last day of the season. The New York Yankees will represent the AL in the World Series, and the Pittsburgh Pirates will represent the NL, with the first game to be played Tuesday in Pittsburgh’s Forbes Field. Pittsburgh started the week 1.5 games behind Chicago, but in a three-game series in Chicago, the Pirates came away with a three-game sweep, and it was Pittsburgh that had the 1.5-game lead with only three days remaining. So, of course, the Pirates faltered, the Cubs bounced back, and as the season moved into the final games of the season on Sunday with the two teams tied for first.
