Week Thirteen of the 1938 BBW Replay is in the books, and it was another exciting week as teams in both leagues struggle and fight to move up in the standings. All teams have passed the 70-games-played mark, and maybe half have reached or surpassed 77-games-played, the halfway point for a 154-game season. No cycles or no-hitters this week, but Joe DiMaggio hit three homeruns in a game on Sunday at home versus Detroit, the third coming in the bottom of the ninth for a walk-off three-run homerun. On Tuesday, St. Louis (NL) had four doubles in one inning, but on Thursday, Cleveland started off their second inning in Washington by hitting four consecutive doubles off Dutch Leonard . Brooklyn Manager Burleigh Grimes In the AL, New York has a lock on first place, but the rest of the league has decided they are going to make the Yankees work for it. This is the same five-game lead New York has had for the past three weeks, as they haven't been able to build on that. Boston had remained...

Week 12 Summary (July 4, 1938 - July 10, 1938)

Week Twelve of the 1938 BBW Replay is in the books, and with this, the replay has reached the mid-point of the schedule, at least as far as the calendar goes. Each league has three teams that have passed the 70-games-played mark, but none have reached the 77-games-played mark, which would be the numerical halfway point in a 154-game season. No one is immune - all the teams have a lot to make up a lot of ground in the brutal heat of the late summer months. The news of the week is not the pennant race, not even the All-Star game, but at the back end of the standings. Both Philadelphia teams went 4-2 for the week, a winning record, even if only for a week's worth of games. Both teams have struggled mightily so far this season, but both have juggled their rosters and their lineups, and they have been somewhat better over the past few weeks. No one is anticipating either team challenging for the pennant this season or in the near future, but opposing teams will at least have to fight ...
